Pharmacy POS software guide: setting up a faster counter
A good pharmacy POS setup lets a cashier finish a typical bill in under a minute without making mistakes on batch or tax. Here's how to get there.
Clean medicine master first
Your POS is only as good as your medicine list. Make sure each medicine has the right GST rate, HSN, pack size and — where available — barcode.
Hardware
You need a computer or tablet, a printer (thermal for receipts or any A4 printer) and optionally a USB barcode scanner. Browser-based software works with printers your computer already supports.
Payment modes
Record UPI, card and cash separately so the day's closing matches your bank and cash drawer. Allow credit only for saved customers.
Staff roles
Give cashiers billing access only. Keep returns, purchases and settings with the pharmacist or owner.
